Known for her exceptional skill and unique style, Elizabeth has firmly established herself as a standout figure in the nail industry. Since joining the HONA community in 2022, Elizabeth has consistently impressed us with her talent and dedication. She’s also taken part in online training with our founder, Charlotte, further enhancing her craft and knowledge.

In this Q&A, Elizabeth shares her journey with HONA, her go-to products, and the inspiration behind her nail career.
What made you choose HONA, and how has it impacted your nail career?
"My first-ever products from HONA were the Zeus flakes and black detail paint. I received them in a goodie bag from The Nail Tech Elevation seminar I took with @isabelmaynails, the founder of @nails_luxeofficial. After looking into HONA, the quality of the products and the transparency of the company really spoke to me. Soon after, I became certified with Gaia and was able to purchase the HONA trial kit. Being in the US, it took some time to get to me, and I anxiously checked the mailbox every day. When the trial kit arrived, I went to my studio, locked my door, and did my nails. It was love at first application!"

How was your experience training online with Charlotte, and what did you learn from it?
"Training with Charlotte was amazing. I have ADHD and I’m also Autistic, so I was worried about doing online training. Charlotte guided me and answered my questions along the way. She reassured me that I am the professional and I knew what I was doing. My biggest takeaway was never being afraid to reach out. HONA has been with me every step of the way, and the team is not only encouraging but also so knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge!"
What is your go-to HONA product, and how has it helped elevate your work?
"The amazing HONA base coats. I chose the base coats because they are truly the start of a personalised prescriptive manicure. Talking with your client and asking the right questions will allow you to pick the base that’s most compatible with the client’s nail type and desired outcome. Being able to offer different base coats allows me the confidence to know I’m picking what’s best for my client and it’s not a one-size-fits-all service."

Who inspires you in the nail industry, and how do they influence your craft?
"I have so many inspirations! The beauty of the internet is that I can get inspiration from almost anywhere in the world. My biggest inspiration is Chan from Clawgasmic. Her passion showed me that I too can do what sets my soul on fire. She has guided me, answered questions, and helped me along with countless others!
Next is Sarah from @quakersaboutbeauty. Sarah has shown me what it looks like to never give up. She is a shining example of finding a supportive brand and seeing how it can change your career and how you feel about yourself as a nail technician."

What advice would you give to someone looking to level up their nail career, especially when it comes to education and community?
"Wow! When it comes to education, I would say, never stop learning. Nobody out there knows everything, and if you think you do, you’ll be left behind. Now, when it comes to community, I would tell them to put yourself out there! Not only is the nail community full of wonderfully supportive and talented artists, but it’s also a place to be yourself and find others who can truly relate to you. As Chan says, 'Being you is your superpower. YOU are the secret sauce.'"
